First tank is up and running. Opinions/input? I think I may have been bitten by the aquarium bug.
Had a bit of a steep learning curve up front, but I think I have a handle on the bare-bones basics. Got a tank at PetCo on a whim and here I am.
Current specs:
20g Tall, HOB 30g rated filter, adjustable heater.
Ammonia: 0, Nitrite: 0, Nitrate: 10ish, pH: 7.0ish
4 Platy (2 male, 2 female; one is preggers about to drop fry)
1 Zebra Danio (He was the only survivor of 5, RIP)
4 Peppered Cory (Just put in a few days ago, they're my favs)
I want to phase out the fake plants and replace them with all real ones. I just got some java moss yesterday as I wanted a live plant and I wanted to give the platy fry a fighting chance to survive until I can quarantine a couple of them to raise.
I could ramble on, but I just wanted to get some initial opinions/input.
What else would you stock? What plants would you use? What structure would you put in? What other equipment could make my life or the fishes lives easier? No right or wrong answers, just brainstorming.
Will be starting a new 29g tank that I'm getting for free from a buddy at work. I want to start that one off the right way. I have a small business LFS close by that knows his stuff to help along the way. Would love some ideas for this one as well! Would like to have a carpeted 'realistic' tank with regional fish; excluding guppy/platy type 'beginner fish.'
