Advice needed for pulling off pink eyeshadow

So as part of my strategy to avoid the Too Faced Peach Palette, I dug around in my stash for colors to satisfy my sudden craving for peachy pink eyeshadows. I ended up digging up this beautiful hot coral-ish pink with gold shimmer from The Face Shop. I love this color but I was never able to pull it off in a look. Today, I tried creating a look with it again. I put the shadow on the outer thirds ish, and paired it with a light gold on my inner corners. It actually looked okay until I took a picture for a bit further away and realized that the combination of the pink and the glitter made me look like that I had been crying my eyes out.

So I'm not actually sure what to do with this color anymore. If anyone has suggestions for pulling off this kind of color, that would be awesome. I really would like to branch out of my normal brown shadow and I'm feeling pink for whatever reason lately (maybe because it's spring?). Any help/tips would greatly appreciated!! :)
