The Earl of Sandwich Makes a Decision

The Earl of Sandwich makes a decision,
Throws away the bread,
And in its place puts two spoiled fish.
He turns to his courtiers, says, “Hey. Look what I did.”
He’s laughing,
Can’t believe he thought of such a wonderful and ridiculous thing.
Wonderful!
Ridiculous!
Holds up the fish,
Waggles the sandwich, the fishtails waggle too.
But they’re too busy eating sandwiches.
Don’t see the slimy fish
Nor his look of artistic dejection
While he begins to eat his pitiful creation,
Looking to see if anyone notices that he has just surpassed his previous wonderful and ridiculous gag.
Dies 36 hours later,
Screaming though he thinks he’s being quiet,
Captivated by dreams in which he’s choking on fish heads.
Turns to someone he thinks is sitting by him.
“Sex is the best, right?” He says.
It is either late or really early.
There is no one nearby to confirm nor deny.
