Then for standalones watch Seed.
Turn A gundam is also very good.

Well, the gundam series has a few installments that, like IBO, are standalone.
Most popular examples are Gundam SEED (and its sequel Destiny) and Gundam 00.
I personally recommend Gundam 00.

IBO is getting a second season this summer.
You could go to the original Gundam, Mobile Suit Gundam.
Otherwise, do like me and outside of UC, since the original series is dauntingly big.

I think the original Mobile Suit Gundam is phenomenal. Really has fantastic character writing and development. Since it's so old, the Hannah-Barbera level animation takes a while to get used to, but it's definitely worth it

I was watching the series, but I switched to the summary movie trilogy. really enjoying them, although I'm sure I'm missing some stuff.

It does look quite old but i will definitely keep that in mind. I feel like a whole new genre has opened up for me.

For me personally I always hated the idea of going through a series through chronological order instead of production order. Just makes it so you're leaping to completely different shows in terms of animation, tone and direction.
For Gundam I think contextualized production order works the best since UC relevant titles have large gaps between them in time (Unicorn, Origin, Igloo, Thunderbolt) that are better viewed along with the rest of early UC.
I could hop onto that since I kinda ended up doing that (hypocritical I know), but I only really did it with going to unicorn after wing so I could watch Turn A as soon as possible.
