I did the details with a paint brush but I always find it challenging to keep it clean and neat, just curious does anyone use paint pens and if so what's your opinion of them ?

It's a bit too dark in my opinion, but in my opinion, it's really good! By the way, get a super thin brush for details. With my experience, paint pens pretty much only come in oil paint which doesn't adhere to plastic very well.

It overall looks pretty good.

Definitely better than anything I've pulled off as far as paintjobs go. I also kinda think the blue is too dark for me, but that's less the work itself and more me preferring the look of more metallic blues.

As for paint pens, I've never tried them myself (just branching into paint work), but I don't see why they wouldn't work as long as you stay away from anything oil-based. Testors makes an enamel marker that might work, and Montana makes some acrylic ones that would likely do the job but definitely need a clear coat for protection.

bummer the pens i purchased were oil based didnt see any enamel ones but if im using on vinyl dye not the plastic itself would it still not work well ? thanks for the feedback

It might still work, but it probably won't work very well. Oil paints don't stick to plastic, and the vinyl dye likely won't help much, if at all.

I find enamel-based anything works best for me, in terms of NERF painting. My Fire and Side strikes painted in the same scheme were detailed with enamel, and it really does a treat.

Great job on yours. As a lover of the FS, it's a right beauty.
