Al Horford

Curious on everyone's thoughts about going after this guy. Do we need a PF more than a Center? Is he too old (29)? Could he make us more competitive with the elite teams in the west? Would the price be right (This year he made 12 mil)?

I really like Horford's game and I dont imagine that Vonleh will be ripe by post season next year, but I do think we continue to develop him during the regular season. I do have a little more faith in Plumlee, as long as he's getting to the basket, getting his FTs to mid 70%, continuing to improve with his passing ability and playing a least mediocre defense.

I think I'd rather go after Whiteside, his age fits our schedule a bit better I would say. But we'd be silly not to go after Horford and see if he's interested in coming out to Portland.

Completely agree. Definitely want to see a push for Whiteside this off-season.

I like him, but he's not enough of a needle mover to get max from us.

Nah, we need a game changer. Someone that can take us to the next level.

I think he would be a good mentor for our younger bigs, especially for Vonleh and Leonard (assuming he stays). He wouldn't turn us in to contenders over night, but his influence could help speed the development of the youngsters. He would also be a more consistent experienced player which is nice to have, and worth a few wins at least.

He is older, but he has some years left for sure and would be helpful immediately while helping the future of the team.

That being said, I agree with u/Hedonistic- that Whiteside could be better. He fits Dame's arc, and maybe a change in scenery and culture could be enough to tame his wilder tendencies off-court.
