Prospects

I don't watch a lot of college football so I'm always left having to go on a lot of analysts and various websites for info about draft prospects. That being said I've seen a lot of mocks over the past couple months with us taking Conklin, Apple, Hargreaves, Alexander, and even a couple with Nkdemiche (probably butchered that name), and Elliot and Spence. I can't help but think the pick is gonna be defense, but I think Nkdemiche has some character concerns the raiders have been avoiding with Aldon Smith being the exception, now I've heard Alexander is not easy to work with, so by process of elimination and for this conversation lets rule those two out, and is Jacks knee as bad as they say? So who would be the best fit, I keep hearing this draft is very deep at D Line, what do you guys think is realistically gonna happen. I personally feel Reggie probably has 2-4 guys he has circled and if no one is there he really likes he's gonna trade back if anyone wants to move up. I do think they will take a RB at some point in the draft but it seems like D is the primary focus.

The only guys you should rule out are the guys that visit us. The rate of us drafting players that visit is extremely low. Aside from them anyone is a possibility.

Eli Apple has not visited us. We're fucked, boys.

William Jackson III did, which is a little disappointing. I was just coming around to the idea of drafting him.

Two of the DBs I'm keeping my eyes on as potential targets are Sean Davis and Darian Thompson. Might not be in the first but it wouldn't surprise me if we drafted either of them at some point. The team has shown a fair bit of interest in both but neither have visited the team facilities I think.

Yeah, William Jackson would have been great, but maybe we will still take him anyways if he's BPA on Reggie's board. Thompson and Davis never visited I'm pretty sure since I post a lot of the pre-draft visit news lol. It sounds like Darian Thompson has really impressed the Raiders though so hopefully we take him on day 2 of the draft. Sean Davis in the later rounds would be nice too and I like that he can also play corner. I also really like Jeremy Cash and Karl Joseph's teammate KJ Dillon.

Well I know Nkdemiche has visited for sure and I believe spence has as well, and if Alexander really is hard to work with (which his college coaches have been saying behind closed doors according to some reports) there's no way JDR and Norton want to deal with that, based off their benching of players who lack effort in practice.

I still wouldn't completely rule out Alexander. Those reports always come out at this time of year and aren't always true.

I know the criteria for judging prospects falls under either need or BPA. But, I'd be interested to see someone do an evaluation on the contractual obligations of the team now/ near future and what position player would make sense in the 1st round w/ the 5th year option and positional value.

Off the top of my head. In order, I'd go LT, CB, RB, DT, S.

A starting LT a year from now on a rookie contract takes the cake. CB is high because of the uncertainty surrounding Amerson. I also like the idea of an elite RB from day one on a rookie deal. He'd contribute early and in his prime. Lat is also a FA next year.
