Electric Forest Packing List
This is the ever-expanding packing list some friends and I put together for Electric Forest and other such camping festivals. Please shoot out any suggestions for additions! (:
Electric Forest Packing List
CLOTHES: -Bathing suit (for showering) -Hoodie/Flannel -Dirty/comfortable shoes (It gets muddy) -Flip flops (shower) -Long pants/shirts (to sleep in-it gets cold at night) -Shorts/tank tops (it gets really hot in the day time) -Bandanas (to protect your nose/mouth from dust)
TOILETRIES: -Toilet paper (Always take a roll in your backpack, don’t count on the porta-potties) -Toothbrush/toothpaste/mouthwash -Hairbrush -Shampoo/Conditioner -Shaving cream/razor if you want -Towels -Vicks (for your nose - I recommend the inhaler sticks) -Deodorant (keep reapplying) -Sunscreen (Sunburn is likely) -Aloe (In case sunscreen doesn't work) -Baby wipes -Bug spray -Tampons -Baby powder (To keep dry when you sweat) -Tylenol, pepto bismol, etc. (Your head WILL hurt)
CAMPSITE: -Tent -Extra stakes -Hammer -Chairs -Tarp to lay on the ground -Canopy -Flag (So everyone can make it home safe at the end of each night) -Tapestries for decoration -Cards/games -Solar shower (Showers are $10-$15 usually) -Empty can for cigarette butts (If you smoke) -Trash bags (Leave no trace (: ) -Cooler -Tons of ice -Air mattresses or moon mat to sleep on -Lanterns -Duct tape (always handy) -Loads of blankets/pillows (You’ll freeze your butt off at night) -Pocket knife
FOOD: *There are food vendors within the campsites that have good food for reasonable prices. Look around for the big white barn, usually with a blow up dancing man on top of it. They have the best food, plus free outlets to charge your phone!
Keep in mind that you are going to need as much energy as you can possible have. You will feel drained every morning. So stock your campsite with snacks. -Fruits with high Vitamin C oranges, grapefruit, cantaloupe, honeydew melon, watermelon, pineapple, rasperries, etc. -Multivitamins/Vitamin C tablets -Beef jerky -Granola bars/ protein bars -Vitamin water -Water - loads of it!!! -Beer/alcohol -Candy (Jolly ranchers are usually the best) -Gum -Crackers -Your usual hangover food
MISCELLANEOUS: -Wristbands -Camelbaks ( there are refill stations throughout the campsite and venue. Water bottles and water backpacks just have to be empty when going in) -Cash (ATM’s are available, but can be hard to find and who wants a fee anyway) -Kandi -Glow sticks -If you smoke cigarettes - Come stocked. Depending on how much you smoke, a carton is usually recommended. They do sell cigarettes in the venue, but you must be 21 to buy -Camera - you can’t always reply on your phone. Go pro’s are the way to go, but disposable cameras or digital work too. You want to capture the memories! -Condoms (If you don’t need them, someone will) -ID - you never know -Lighters -Papers, wraps, bowls, etc. -Lights toys (Gloves, poi, etc.) -Maps (Print out multiple maps of both the campsite and the venue before hand, make sure there are plenty for everyone at your campsite. It is way too easy to get lost) -Drug testing kits *If you choose to do drugs, please be safe and aware of what you are taking. There are people selling drugs all over forest. Most of them are trustworthy, but you can never be too careful. You can get test kits online on amazon, Dance Safe, Bunk Police, etc. Dance Safe and Bunk Police usually vend so if you forget, you can buy your kits in the venue. -Walkie-talkies (If your squad splits up, make sure someone has a walkie-talkie so you can be reunited) -Ziplock bags (The weather is unpredictable, if it rains you want to keep your electronics dry) -Hammock -Bandaids -Portable chargers -Battery powered fans -Defracter glasses -Totem -Frisbee -Incense -Kites -Body paint -Bubbles -Clothespins *Some people take clothes pins and write messages on them, or even their phone number, and walk around the forest secretly clipping them onto peoples backpacks or clothes for them to find later. It’s really neat. -Journal/pens *Another idea someone gave to me is to carry a small journal with you. There are so many interesting people to meet around the forest, so many stories to tell and to listen to, it really is an unforgettable experience. Carry a journal around with you to jot down ideas, have people write their stories in there, record your thoughts throughout the day, take names and numbers, etc. Record as much as you can, and get as much out of the forest as you can because it has so much to offer. *Another fun thing that most people do is to empty your backpack at the end of each night. Write down and take pictures of everything that is left in your bag at the end of the day - you’ll be surprised -Any fun toys that will make your experience even better!
