I've checked pretty much all PvP vendors on the Alpha/Beta, and here are the prices for anyone interested:

  • 1 Mark - Individual Belts, Bracers and Cloaks; PvP Tabards (like Knight's Colors); Level 60 Battle Standards; Cataclysm Epic PvP gems
  • 2 Marks - Individual Shoulders, Gloves, Boots, Off-Hands and Shields
  • 3 Marks - Individual Helms, Chestpieces and Pants; Low level PvP inscriptions
  • 4 Marks - PvP Heirloom trinkets
  • 5 Marks - Individual Weapons (both 1H and 2H)
  • 8 Marks - PvP Heirloom armor
  • 10 Marks - PvP Heirloom weapons
  • 12 Marks - Armor Ensemble for a specific class armor set; Ancient Heirloom Armor Casing
  • 14 Marks - Ancient Heirloom Scabbard
  • 15 Marsk - Black PvP Mounts
  • 80 Marks - Weapon Arsenal from a specific season (includes all weapons from that season, even ones your class cannot equip)

Ensembles and Arsenals are only available for the WoD seasons so far, but they might add more before this goes live. You can still buy all the old gear individually either way. Level 60 replica stuff still has the old requirements to buy (RBG rating or vanilla titles earned) but they do cost Mark of Honor now.

I don't know how you get the marks yet, but it's most likely from unrated PvP just like Honor Points. I'd guess 1-3 marks per battleground depending on how well you do (maybe 1 for a loss, 3 for a win, etc). Pure speculation though.

Also something to note, is that they have completely removed all jewelry (necks, rings and trinkets) from vendors, probably since you can't transmog them anyway. So if there's some old pvp jewelry you want, buy it now before it becomes completely unavailable in 7.0.

The Warmongering Gladiator (Warlords season 3) vendors are also gone from Ashran. If you want those opposite-faction recolors it might be an idea to buy them now. Could just be an oversight since there are Ensamble/Arsenal items in the data files for Warmongering, but still. The Prideful vendor is still available (which was the MoP opposite-faction recolor season).

What about the Black War mounts which cost 2,000 honor? Or the AV mounts?

7
leotharOP•

I checked for you and they cost 15 Marks of Honor each.

How do you get and how hard it is to get a Mark ?

I like what I see.

Since Mists of Pandaria, the PvP gear for each season has had different colors depending on your faction for all of the armor and weapons. Usually, Horde gets red tints and Alliance gets blue tints.

For the last season in MoP (Prideful) and also this current season in WoD (Warmongering) we have instead been getting the previous season's item models except the opposite faction colors. So right now Alliance Warmongering gear uses the same models and colors as the Horde Wild gear and vice versa.

TLDR: Alliance season 3 = Horde season 2 and Horde season 3 = Alliance season 2. On alpha the season 3 vendors are gone, so if you want those specific recolors you might have to get them now.

It's old honor gear. Literally useless aside from transmog

10
Threedayvic•

Most gear will be useless as everyone will have base stats. Pretty interested to see if having update gear matters at all example: will it matter to have max level items on or will any gear do?

1
Athrasienot aphoenix•

It's without a doubt better to have up to date gear.

4
Vatheran•

As much as I understand why old pvp gear won't cost gold, it still makes the pvp hating collector inside blue :(

13
epidemica•

So, they removed Honor...just to bring it back in another form?

Gold was fine. This is completely unnecessary.

6
xXMylord•

They want you do pvp for pvp transmog gear. I can't see what the issue is.

10
epidemica•

Then just leave honor in the game. Removing it, and then replacing it with something that's functionally equivalent is pretty pointless.

2
MisanthropeX•

Going forward, there is no PVP gear, so they removed honor since you won't be using it to buy better gear. But as a vanity reward, old honor sets remain in the game, and it makes sense you need to PVP for them, especially since they don't give you any gameplay edge.

3
epidemica•

So, they should put the old badge gear back on the valor vendor, and remove the gold cost?

Old vanity gear should be just purchased with gold. Feel free to disagree.

3
KajiKaji•

How common are marks of honor? The 2k honor mounts are 15 marks - is 15 marks as easy to get as 2000 honor is now?

5
leotharOP•

We don't really know yet.

3
Zaenux•

Probably not, if you want to get the mounts quick, do Ashran. Collect and hunt treasures while doing the bonus objectives dailies, join in on the main road quests if the group is going well. I've geared 3 characters in full ilvl 700 stuff in 4-6 hours /played @ 100 each time from doing this. That's around 4k honor per hour average.

Is there anything that can now be bought with a non-PvP currency, that will switch to this new PvP currency with legion?

4
lolwatzki•

What about legacy gladiator's sets from TBC and Wrath (gladiator/merciless/vengeful/brutal/etc)? Currently they are available either at a large discount or by purchase with tier tokens, any idea how this will translate into Legion?

If it's under the same pricing structure, either their price is going to drastically increase or the price for other, more expensive legacy pieces is going to drastically decrease. Either way, an answer more solid than my simple guess would be appreciated.

3
mstieler•

Guessing the stuff bought with Tier Tokens will still be bought with Tier Tokens, since those aren't going away.

By "large discount" do you mean price in Honor?

1
lolwatzki•

yeah

1
mstieler•

Guess we just need to have someone head up to Kezzik in Area 52 once the Beta comes up and check.

1
lolwatzki•

I keep forgetting about vendors in A52 and Gadgetzan. The only ones ingrained in memory are in Orgrimmar and atop one of the spires in Quel'Danas.

Is the rank requirement to transmog to the original honor sets still in?

flying_ant•

can you get refunds for the gear? and if you do, are they removed from your transmog gear list?

1
TickxT•

If only goes to your transmog list once the refund timer is gone. I think there's going to be a way to make it instant by removing refund time, but I'm not sure

6
flying_ant•

damn. so it's going to be much easier to farm masses of honor and buy the old gear before legion I'm guessing

1
TickxT•

Not sure about that. If they add those tokens to get all armors to every expansion it probably is going to be a lot faster during legion(btw how do you get those honor tokens?). As it stands right now.... I think it may be too late to farm those tmog probably, unless you only play 1 character and loves to pvp.

2
flying_ant•

with the state of ashran honor farming, it's not hard to honor cap quite fast. I'm pretty sure it's going to be less painful to do that than mess around with whatever comes next. (hopefully)

1
Bwgmon•

I'm pretty sure that sticking it in Void Storage gets rid of the refund timer.

1
TickxT•

Oh I forgot about that. I was just thinking about a faster way since we don't really need the void storage anymore.

1
mstieler•

Also enchanting (including engineer tinkers) and gemming will bind it.

1
mstieler•

Guess we'll have to wait and see how we acquire the Marks of Honor before we can really tell what the best way to go about this will be. Possibly the PVP World quests?

I know I've got a set or two of PVP stuff I want to pick up (as well as a few mounts), but I'm not quite sure what the best route would be until we know how the Marks are acquired.

1
El_Deeabloo•

This include all pvp sets?

1
chronox21•

I wish this is what they did for gold sinks instead of raising the gold cap to buy higher priced items.

1 Token = 999,999g, the Spider Mount would then cost 2 tokens.

Very disappointed with the 10mil cap per character.

Instead of just downvoting, why don't you comment why you disagree.

Edit: Oh alright i see thanks i was worried.

I hope those prices aren't final. It's not really fair to charge 40x the rate for weapons when the ratio is closer to 1.5x the rate on live.

Do we have any info on how these marks will be acquired?

That's pretty cool. Just buy it on a class that can equip most weapons and you can unlock the transmog for your whole account. I'm thinking warrior since they can equip everything from staves to fists?

-1
bass_the_fisherman•

They will unlock all appearances into the wardrobe so it doesn't matter what class you buy it on.

6
lnk-cr-b82rez-2g4•

It only unlocks if the character with the item can equip said item. So if you have a 2 handed sword from a legacy raid drop for your mage, you will still have to get that sword on a two handed sword user to be able to unlock it in transmog. This applies to everything but quest rewards that are automatically added across your account based on the quests you've finished across characters.

-7
dinoz0rzz•

I think that its all the weapons, as there is an option to buy the full gear set for 12 (the armor ensemble), and it the little of the name i can see for the weapons says 'Arsenal' which is not the name for any current weapon.

I don't understand why it's OK to not use a currency for PVE gear and for PVP you have to step into the headless-chicken-pen that are BGs and skirmishes. I hate PVP but I love collecting sets, dang it Blizz!
