Shenyi Tries to Cross the Sands
The sun is like the cyclop eye,
Within its gaze men break and die,
But find no tears to moan and weep
Beneath the burning flame blue sky.
And in the night so dark and deep,
The wolves do howl, the men do sleep,
At least the few that live to fight
As creatures come to hunt and eat.
And in the dawn's fresh morning light,
When all is peaceful, cool, and bright,
Where once were many, now are few
With weary hearts and downcast sight.
But look! above the final dune
I thought I spied a desert yew.
Perhaps it's just a sun-mad eye
That brings me to this paradise.
