Question: Do you have to pay for ringing a fire brigade in Ireland?

My friend claims that you have to pay €500 if you call the fire brigade. For example, there is a fire in a wooded area of a nearby park, your house is perfectly safe from it but you decide to ring it in. Do you have to pay?

Seems nonsensical to have such a deterrent when safety is at risk. Is there anything at all to this claim?
