[Ontario] Want to put a lock on my room because untrustworthy roommates but not sure if landlord will allow it - what are my options?

I am currently living in a subletted room and in the future there will be times I may have to leave for a week or so and I really don't trust one of my roommates.

I have went through my lease (that the landlord/property manager hasn't returned a signed copy of yet) and it doesn't say I can't install a lock on my door.

So what are my options? I really want the security and peace of mind a lock brings but feel like my landlord won't allow it (college town, constant changing of tenants, no other rooms have locks).

• 1. Am I within my rights to put a lock on the door?
• 2. Am I within my rights to put a temporary lock on the door that doesn't really change the door handle/door?
• 3. What is my best path to getting a lock on my door/convincing my LL to allow me to have one?
• 4. What are my options?
