RegExp question help please

I tried to do as much research as to where I should post this because I didn't want to piss off all the coders for being wrong and too "beginner." I'm hoping this sub can help! I read somewhere that Regular Expression is used in Perl, so I figured you guys would be the best resource to help me.

I'm trying to use this Firefox plugin called Social Fixer to block Facebook posts containing specific words from showing up in my newsfeed. The application uses RegExp and the words I'm looking to block are actually hashtags.

Is there a way to write in the expression to include the # character? Currently it looks like this:

/text1|text2|text3/i

Or is there a way to block "words containing" (like * in Excel) in case the #examples are considered full words with the #? The program wasn't working when I had the RegExp as /#text1/i

FYI Coding level is entry level beginner, so please dumb it down (sorry).
