Splash screen help?

My setup has a working, custom video splash screen. However, I want the EmulationStation logo to CUT OFF the splash screen once it's ready. I know older versions of RetroPie used to do this, but I refuse to downgrade.

I saw a tutorial on doing this which involved removing a line of code, but I can't find it for the life of me. Help?
