The Double RNG...
I don't want to come here to complain but this week seems to have been particularly bad for my search for a new sniper. Neither cryptarch is selling special weapon engrams so I can't burn marks to try and roll a 1kYS. Rahool in general seems to only want to give me a blue engram for ranking him up which feels pretty bad. Shaxx and the Vanguard are completely determined to give out only boots. I haven't gotten a weapon from them in 2 weeks, decent roll or otherwise.
The April Update proved that Destiny doesn't have to be so stingy with the rewards it dishes out. The first week after the April update where the game was raining down ships, shaders and guns? where did that go? I'm just running through Crucible matches trying to grind out a Longbow but I honestly don't care if I win or lose the match since I just have to hang out for 20 of them to get another chance at a new sniper. I'm willing myself not to be one of those useless AFK players that just rubber bands their sticks and goes to make a sandwich but the post game drops for Crucible aren't any better if I do well or if I go 0/10000. I'm a little concerned that when they fixed the loot table to Rahool would stop dropping y1 blues they screwed up something else because I've seen several other people complaining that all they get is boots/gloves from their rank up packages and blues from Rahool.
I think the solution is that the rank up packages should give you a weapon and a piece of armor or let you choose between one or the other. I don't think the game is going to retain more players by double dipping RNG for every reward we get. I know the game can't keep dishing out new and exciting rewards like Shaders all the time but I find the lack of snipers and shotguns disturbing. Sorry for the rant, I truly hope all of you are getting better RNG than i am. Destiny is the only game I play but despite things being actually better now than they were pre-April, I'm more jaded now than I was then. Let me know how your RNG has been. [discussion]
