The matchmaking system is this game is ridiculous. I haven't played in 3 months and during my qualifiers it put me in three different games against Challenger III and Challenger Elite players. Why?

I never made it past silver tier last year. How is this even remotely supposed to be competitive? It is honestly a joke.

I'm more of a casual player, but I like to jump into matchmaking from time to time to "git gud". I haven't played a serious game in months. Just hopped on from time to time to play custom games or a few hockey games (shoutout to r/devils). How am I even remotely supposed to have fun or be competitive if it is matching me with people so obviously out of my league? It's not like I will get better being waffle stomped.

Honestly this is frustrating more than anything and after 4 matches it looks like I'll be putting this game down for a while again. I used to have so much fun, even if I lost, in ranked but now it seems like everyone is a tryhard.

To compare it to the old Halo 2 and 3 days, which I'm sure most if not all of us have played, it was like a rank 20 slayer player going against a rank 30+. The skill gap was so absurd that it wasn't even like I could take anything out of those losses other than "screw this game, it'll sit in my Steam library another 3 months now".

I just want to know how it is remotely even supposed to make sense to put someone on the better half of the player spectrum against someone who wasn't even out of Silver tier last year.
