[X-Post /r/asktransgender] Tricare & Moving.

Hello r/transgender!

I'm turning 18 shortly and I'm graduating from high school. I'm also currently moving back to the US from Italy.

I plan on starting hrt soon after I get to the US (It's been four years!).

There are a few issues though. I'm currently on Tricare health insurance (US military). There was news early this year about providing trans services by May (hormones only), but I haven't heard anything about it since February.

Also, it doesn't look like I'll be going to college for a while. I think Tricare only supports dependents that are going to college until they're 21 (I'm probably wrong).

When will Tricare provide trans health services? If they ever will, could I go to any hospital?

I'm moving to Kansas City right now and it looks like I'll start hrt at The Transgender Clinic in Misourri. I want to move to the Twin Cities area of Minnesota (it's a 6 hour drive from KC), but I don't know if I'll be able to manage it (just becoming an adult and having an extremely unsupportive family).

I don't think IC clinics give out prescriptions (at least not ones I could use at a hospital). If I were to move to Minnesota could I continue my transition at a regular hospital, or would I have to start over and prove that I'm trans?
