Advice for first time players of DomiNations

Hello all. In my experience I used the Japanese nation up to Gunpowder Age. The Japanese are a strong unit early and have a great special unit in the Bushi, Samurai, Heavy Samurai and Nodachi Samurai moving up. When I advanced to the Enlightenment Age, I realized that the Japanese grew obsolete on offense and not getting much loot on food and gold in battle. I switched to the French and they served me well and will for latter ages including the Enlightenment Age from what I have researched. But after a while I got bored because they also wouldn't produce enough loot. Before I move on, one note is that the French possess reduced training time and a great heavy cavalry unit in the Hussar. They also have additional alliance troop space. However, if you want more loot which in my case is a need, switch to the British. I did that and it took me a while to adjust to the new attack strategy. Their special unit the Royal Yeomanry have additional range and is useful to take out buildings in large numbers. But you will need heavy cavalry and cannons to rid of one of their weaknesses in the mortar. Rallying with healers will help with your attacks too. By the way, that's a useful strategy when attacking bases. This is just my experience. Try out other nations if you wish and see what best suits your playing style. As of now, I am enjoying the British. Good luck!
