shadows on green screen

I am trying to do a bunch of knockouts of subjects photographed on a green screen, however when they were photographed the photographer didn't set up his background light correctly and now there are harsh shadows on the green screen. Is there any easy way in PS to remove these shadows, or to include the shadows when selecting the green during the knockout?
