Size balanced vs Height balance (AVL) trees

Hello, I am taking data structures and honestly I am still confused by this concept. I attached a sample problem and solution here: http://imgur.com/CjoPjg0 Basically how do I take a random tree and make it either size balanced or height balanced? Could someone provide a step by step since I understand you have to do left or right rotations but I am not sure exactly how.
