How to fill up signal headroom properly when mixing & mastering?
I've noticed some of the artists known for exceptional mixing and mastering have fairly smooth transients and consistent amplitudes as seen on soundcloud's player? How do producers go about achieving this? I've focused on EQing and multiband comp mainly, and have toyed with Ozone's Imaging tool also. Am I using these incorrectly, or am I missing something altogether?
