Weird reference to islam in pop culture

I was just watching ep 21 of madam secretary. In this scene, two spies are having a drink. The first is telling a story about how a kid with a goat was about to mess their operation so they slaughtered the goat and told him he'd be next {I'm assuming to scare him to run away or keep quiet not to reveal their position}. Anyways, the other guy is like a religion professor who seems a bit sympathetic to islam. He tells him that the goat symbolizes abraham's sacrifice of isaac and that the story is a big deal in quran and bible. The first says he didn't know that beforehand and the kid was crying like his mother was killed or something.

Who comes up with this shit? So killing the kid's pet {friend}, property, source of income and food isn't enough of a reason for him to be upset and they need religion to justify that? Do they think muslims don't eat meat or something because of abraham pbuh?

just ranting about the weirdest thing
