Doom PC 980ti FPS issue

Hi guys currently playing on my 144hz monitor and notice that in areas throughout the game my fps will dip to 72fps and just sit there. If i try lower all the settings it will still not go up. My main issue with this is it causes stuttering throughout my playthrough. Any solutions?
