List of reasons why I don't drink
I'm on day 21 right now. Things are going okay. I made a list of reasons why I don't ever want to drink again to read any time I have a dumb urge.
Here goes:
Buttload of wasted money; hangovers daily, some crippling to the point of calling into work or not leaving bed for the day; loss of self control with food while drunk (gorging thousands and thousands of junk food calories); isolating myself to drink; no motivation to count calories (thus no weight loss possible with drunk fridge raids); every task following day is a chore; no motivation to work out; possible deadly health issues if level of drinking continues (Louis Theroux documentary!); get so drunk at phish (favorite band) I either don’t remember it, spend it puking in the bathroom for hours (hello, Chicago 2011) or being too drunk to enjoy the show (not to mention $10/beer); passing out without brushing teeth (extremely poor dental hygiene); absolute inability to moderate, and in cases where “moderation” did occur, the only thought was of consuming more; sleeping in freezing uncomfortable car because I’m too intoxicated to drive; drink to relieve intense social anxiety, but it always backfires where I drink way too much, become even more depressed/anxious (mostly due to not being able to speak properly from being too fucked up); two most suicidal episodes in my life both involved extreme drunkenness
Do I need to fucking continue? Fuck alcohol. Feel free to add your own reasons (that I maybe missed for myself!)
Onward to week 4
Thanks r/SD, you've been incredible in these early days.
