Messing around with GBA SP clone screens

Heyooo r/Gameboy , how is it going?

So earlier today I went back to the two clone SPs that I bought recently thinking they were AGS 101. I compared one of the clone screen with an original one. It turns out the resolution is slightly different but something more important is that they both have 32 pins (atleast the ones I have). The ribbon cable of the clone screen doesn't fit in the the socket on an original board but I tried putting it over the connexions behind the socket. And after moving it and applying some pressure, I eventually managed to get the backlight working without anything on screen though.

But still, the fact that I can get the backlight to work motivates me and makes me think that it could be possible to use this screen in an original SP.

I'm just wondering how should I go about experimenting a bit further. Should I just route all the pins to the board of the SP randomly or something?
