Mobile-friendly score checking script for MLB.com fantasy leagues
Anyone out there still using mlb.com's fantasy baseball leagues? With their flash-based scoreboard that doesn't work on mobile? Maybe your commissioner is stuck in the past and/or scared of change?
If you fit that description, you may be interested in this script I wrote. You find your mlb.com fantasy "league_id", save it into the script, and upload 3 files to a web host or server that runs Python 2.7.
Features so far:
- Weekly team running totals
- Daily player totals
- A season-long "points back" graph, showing who is leading your league in points
Screenshots (taken on PC but looks OK on mobile too): http://imgur.com/a/LXfto
Instructions:
- Download baseball.py, gviz_api.py (Google Charts helper), and style.css from here: https://github.com/b-neufeld/mlb-fantasy-checker
- Identify your fantasy league_id - go to http://www.mlb.com/mlb/fantasy/fb/home.jsp, right-click the page, view source, and CTRL-F for "league_id"
- Put your league_id in line 9 of baseball.py
- Upload the 3 files to a webserver running Python 2.7
- Share the link to baseball.py with your league!
For anyone on CBS or Yahoo or ESPN or any modern fantasy baseball platform, this is VERY BASIC.... but if you are one of the few still trapped in mlb.com leagues, having mobile-friendly scores can really drive up engagement in your league!
Feedback welcome. It may not be the cleanest code but it works!
