SBR or what should I buy?

Still having a lot of trouble deciding what gun to purchase. I'm still having trouble deciding. At first it was a 9mm AR but after having trouble finding a 10.5 inch upper and lower combo under $1000 I started leaning towards the scorpion Evo, now maybe even considering a AK pistol. What should I do? I wanted something in 9mm that uses glock mags but now I'm open to any suggestions, something reliable, cheap to shoot, can be modified, and used for home defense. I don't know if I'm asking for too much but I'm very much undecided. Trying to stay under $1000
