What should I be looking for in a tank?

I'm in an apartment, and can't really grow anything outside. I'm in the UK if that makes a difference. I grew VFTs as a kid, so I decided I would quite like to get back into it.

I am thinking I would like to do this in a tank with lights. This should give me decent control over the environment, and make for an interesting talking point!

I believe a re-purposed tank would be a good idea. Should be easily adaptable to add lighting, heck, fish tanks or lizard tanks would already have these things.

I feel a fish tank would be a pain in the arse, due to the top only access and lack of ventilation. Would some kind of lizard tank work well? The ones with the sliding doors.

Not really sure what would work best. What are your solutions?
