DDR43200 cas 14 vs DDR43200 cas 16
So I am new to OC'ing and I am building my rig and have exhastively researched ram and how it works. My rig is going to be for VR and one of the things that I have read is that a great VR experience is heavily dependent on latency. In my research on OC'ing ram, I find that every article says that the real latency of ram is the combination of CAS latency with the speed. And it seems like every article and comment that I have read says that it doesn't really matter because as the speed goes up so does the CAS and they offset each other in the final latency. So my question is, what about ram that has the same speed but there is lower CAS? I have found two set of 2X8GB TridentZ DDR43200--one has timings of 16-16-16-36 and the other has timings of 14-14-14-34. So what am I missing here? Wouldn't the CAS 14 sticks have an overall lower latency since they have the same speed but a lower CAS? The difference in price is only $20, but if everybody I read is right and there is no difference then why waste the money. However if I can bring my latency down for VR, it's more than worth it.
