How interesting are hybrid waterfowl?

My cousin has what I think is a hybrid(?) duck in his backyard. I can find some that are similar (kind of) online but nothing exactly. It has a male mallard head with entirely black body, solid yellow bill, solid orange feet. Just wondering if this is of interest to ornithologists? or fairly common and a one-off or sorts?
