[SPOILERS] Blessed runs should have more ways of changing weapons
Having just completed a blessed run I have a few thoughts on how they could be made a little more interesting and a lot less frustrating. Before I discuss my idea let me explain what is wrong in the first place:
-
Some enemies are resistant/take very little damage from some weapons, on one of my runs I got the plunger against a revolvenant in the room with the player seeking hammer, this meant I took a ton of damage as I simply couldn't output enough damage to come remotely close to killing the revolvenant (kept getting the attack where it traps you where it'd either hit me or the hammer would); on another run I (much like a few pictures I've seen) I ended up with a flare gun versus a muzzle wisp; a different run I got the drill weapon once against a lead maiden meaning I had to fire of all the weapons ammo to actually deal damage (this feels like more of a floor in the lead maidens stunned behaviour but still)
-
A few weapons are plainly trash; some weapons are plainly awful (which is fine) BUT it feels like you have to use a hell of a lot of their ammo before getting a reshuffle causing a tonne of frustration (namely things like the klobbe, peashooter, super soaker, plunger etc.)
Now that I've outlined the issue here's what I'd do to fix it, add (as you may of guessed from the title) more ways to change your gun during a blessed run. To be more specific:
-
As well as having (what I believe to be) them reshuffle based on damage dealt/when the ammo runs out why not have a timer (maybe a minute or so) that counts down whilst in a fight (this'll also help prevent just waiting outside a boss room to get a good gun to make it start of easier)
-
Make using a blank reshuffle your gun, if someone doesn't want to use a gun they've been given for whatever reason they should be able to use a blank to change it (this seems fair as blanks are fairly rare and a good enough sacrifice)
-
Chance to change upon taking damage; like money, keys and blanks, health is another resource. Also it could be good as it means people taking a lot of damage because they got a weak gun against a strong enemy means if they take damage they'll have a chance to change guns and get out of their sticky situation
What are your thoughts on blessed runs and this suggestion?
