I loved the movie, just I feel like the motivations of some characters were more subtle than others. Can someone explain the motivation of the people on Caps and Starks sides?

I feel like the overarching theme of family in the movie plays into the motivation of a lot of the characters, a lot of the ideologies each have are more personal than political. Can come one help explain the motivation of each character? Thanks!
