What would you do with Saylor?
Preface: Please don't shoot me, we're all friends here, lets have a grown up dissection of this proposal.
Okay so Stevie is out of contract in the Summer and we are going down. This means at the moment the potential centre backs we have are: Colo (provided he doesn't leave which is possible, God I wish he would), Mbemba (pretty unlikely to leave), Lascelles (again unlikely to leave) and Dummett (if you think his future lies at centre back, he isn't mobile enough to be any threat as a full back).
So lets say the most probable situation is: Colo is no longer here, Dummett isn't played at centre back. We only have Lascelles and Mbemba when really we need 4 centre backs to be safe in a 46 game season.
Do you think Taylor would be worth keeping around, even if only as backup to Lascelles and Mbemba when we go down?
There's a lot of hyperbole around his performances but I must admit I find it hard to believe Stevie would be a liability in the Championship. He could be good backup and means we don't have to hunt for another player, taking money away from where it could be spent elsewhere.
Or do you think Stevie has had his time, would probably ask for big wages and would probably spend the entire season injured anyway?
Just wondering what side of the coin people mostly land on now.
