“Display driver stopped responding and has recovered”

Trying to play Dark Souls III, and every hour or so, the game will go black, then stay on a white screen while not responding. After closing the program the message “Display driver stopped responding and has recovered” appears in the corner.

Is there any way I can stop this from happening?
