working on my new conlang
I'm gonna try to focus on this one over the summer. A big problem I have is that I'm too impatient when it comes to creating a vocabulary. I do everything else, then give up after I made half of the words I need because I lose interest, had an idea for a different conlang, or became focussed on something else.
To prevent this from happening, I'm gonna try something really different... and maybe difficult...
I'm going to have a very few set of nouns. I will only have descriptive words like "thing" "place" "piece/part" "time/moment" etc.
This way the vocabulary won't need to be as large. If I wanted to say "I was listening to a good song yesterday" I would say something like: "I was listening to a thing that makes good noise during this moment at the time that happened before now."
So sentences may be longer because you need to describe simple things, but the vocabulary is much smaller, so there is less to memorize.
Also, I'm hoping that by practicing this conlang, it will help me describe my thoughts in other languages accurately, because language affects the way we think, and how we act. Some languages cause people to constantly know where North East South and West is.
So in a language that makes you describe everything, it should make you better at communicating your thoughts.
