1 year on Apri... random bleeding! Should I be worried??!

Hey all, 18/F Here! Throwaway for privacy. Its been a little over one year since my doctor prescribed me Apri for both my heavy periods and to prevent unwanted pregnancy. I've really liked this pill. Its been quite reliable and I've had no considerable side effects until now. Ever since last Sunday, I've had a lot of brown/black discharge. I was worried at first, as I've never had this happen in my one year of taking the pill, but I dismissed it as spotting anyway. I then became was startled to see how much was coming out, especially because I've NEVER had spotting at all even while skipping my periods, let alone having such heavy brown discharge that I actually had to put in a tampon a couple days after it started. This has gone on for a week now. Today around midday, I actually started bleeding. It is no longer brown or black discharge, its bright red blood as if I've started my period. I don't start my sugar pills for another three days. I haven't skipped or missed any pills, and I take them perfectly at the same time every day. The only thing that has changed since I started is the name of my pill. A month or two ago, I started getting the generic for Apri, Juleber. Seemingly the same pill, same packaging, it just says "Juleber" now instead of "Desogestrel ethinyl estradiol" Should I be worried about pregnancy or other medical complications? Also could the generic switch have anything to do with this issue? Thank you guys so much!
