Looking for a 13-15 inch general use laptop, $1,500 budget [US]
-
Total budget and country of purchase: Up to $1500 USD although it would be nice to spend less than my max amount. Will be bought in the U.S. as implied.
-
Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications to your requirements for the money? Pick or include any that apply. I am looking mainly for specifications but battery still matters to me. Around 8 hours of battery browsing internet and word processing would be great
-
How important is weight to you? Quite important as I am a student and will be carrying it around a lot.
-
Which OS do you require? Windows, Linux, Mac. Windows
-
Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. Anywhere from 13-15 preferably
-
Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. If you have no requirements, put N/A. I am looking to be able to play moderately intensive games when I am at home.
-
If you're gaming (leave blank if you put N/A above...), do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
Overwatch at 1080p 60fps (doesn't really matter the quality)
Super Smash Bros Melee Netplay through Dolphin Emulator at 60fps (this game requires a bit more cpu power than normal to due the emulation being somewhat poorly optimized)
Various new games at around the quality on the PS4 and XBox One
- Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable business grade build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? I would like a good keyboard and touchpad. Good speakers would be great as well. Ideally I would like to get a great screen with an above average refresh rate (120hz would be awesome but I don't know if that's possible) since it would help the games I am looking to play which need precise reactions. A good wifi card would be great as well.
Build quality is also very important since I will be carrying it around a lot and need it to hold up for a while.
- Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
I was looking at the XPS 15 at the $1,200 configuration but I have yet to buy it since I'm unsure if it is portable enough. Also the webcam placement is somewhat annoying. I would like to know my other options.
Even though my budget is fairly high I don't think I really have the needs that would warrant spending so much, so if there is a laptop that is under the price by quite a bit that still fits that would be great as well
Thanks! I really appreciate it~
:)
