Any Colorado EMTs who can answer some questions?

So, long story short, I'm a 'career changer' (I was an Army Officer for 8.5 years, went to the business world and hated it, got out to become a PA). I finished my academic pre-reqs for PA school a few days ago. However, even if I get in this cycle, I won't start till next August, so I'm looking at Healthcare jobs to work in the meantime.

There's an EMT course at my local community college this summer I'm interested in. However a friend of mine (who's a former Army Medic) warned me to be careful of EMT courses that just get you to EMT basic, as it pretty much leads to few prospects until you get more qualifications.

Since time is a factor here, this isn't something I can devote years to, so for those who are Colorado EMTs/Paramedics:

-what are the restrictions/limitations on what EMT Basic folks can do in Colorado?

-Considering how little time I have, is EMT even worth it?

I know this is a lot of info and I can clarify things further if need be. Thanks for everyone's help!
