Made the jump from Normal to Ranked - Experience & Research is required.

Hi everyone,

I don't post very often, but I browse this sub every day and it inspired me to get to level 30 and see how I did in ranked. Man, was it a surprise...

I usually main Support as Morgana and am normally quite successful. In my first ranked game, it went terrible. The ADC Vayne went mental at me for hitting minions (not killing them). I explained I was just trying to help, but he insisted I shouldn't touch them, which I wasn't used too.

Trouble is, when I was stunning their enemy teams ADC, he wasn't taking advantage of it and I wonder if it was for good reason, or it wasn't the right moment.

My next game was as Morgana again. It went a little better and I helped their ADC get some kills and shielded him when necessary, but I couldn't stop the feeling that I wasn't doing enough. I'm sure that's quite common, but I didn't like it all the same.

I plan to do some more research on this sub and Youtube and Twitch, but I just wanted to ask, are them some simple gameplay rules that I wouldn't have generally seen or realised when just playing in normal mode?

My current idea of "Doing Support" is:

  1. Don't kill minions, but you can damage them if it helps the ADC.
  2. Do all you can to disrupt the enemy (stunning, blocking, annoying)
  3. Shield the ADC and other team mates (but try not to get killed in the process)
  4. Don't wander through the jungle without vision
  5. Speaking of 4. - Try to make vision and help le jungler.
  6. Roam only in certain situations

Well.. feel free to rip my ideas to shreds ;)

TL:DR - Am I sort of on the right track with the above points and I forgot to mention, the 3 games I have played were losses.
