Pokemon not saving after ips patch.

I have Pokemon Fire Red and that works fine using vba_next. I added the same game with a DragonBall Z Hack and now I get the "The 1m sub-circuit board is not installed." error message when using the same emulator. Save states is not a good alternative.

The issue is easily resolved on pc by changing the save type to 128k instead of 64k under options, but that setting is nowhere to be found when working from either the RGUI menu or the commandline. I don't want to use save states because you need normal saving once you beat the Elite four. The game works with the vba and mgba emulators both have the same results. Unpatched game works fine.

Tldr; Need help changing save type from 64k to 128k on vba from retropie with a specific ROM.
