Open Trans Folk Enlisting in Military? Any progress?

Hey, I'm eagerly awaiting news that I can enlist in military as an openly transgender man. I know I've read that people can come out as transgender if they are already enlisted but cannot enlist after already coming out..in other words they stopped discharging but will not accept any people who identify as transgender. My friend who is in the Air Force said she just attended a conference where they were talking about moving forward to allow people who are transgender to enlist and I don't know if anyone on here is actively serving and knows more about this? Or if anyone knows a way I can get involved to help move things along? Most people who I talk to are under the impression that since the DADT (don't ask don't tell) has been reevaluated that this included people who are transgender. That is false. Any info would be greatly appreciated!
