Dog maiming injury from Friday
Thank you, everyone for the support and advice after my dog attack this weekend.
I found one survivor, suffering from pulled feathers and ripped skin from the feather pulling. No puncture wounds, but only has two tail feathers left. She has made it through two nights and is getting stronger, less wobbly and her peep seems to have more life in it. I've put Blukote on her two wounds that I could find and she's got Save-a-chic probiotics and electrolytes to drink. She's eating and drinking like normal, although sleeping a bit more, but that's understandable from being shaken up. She's in her hospital crate with a stuffed Olaf to give her warm hugs.
But, and there's always a but, she's been passing pale yellow, watery paste, very stinky poops. It seems to be just leaking out of her and when I lightly compress her bubbles come out. The bottom of her vent seems stiff and swollen I have to give her baths multiple times a day to wash her bottom off.
Is this just stress induced? Is there something else I could be doing to help her?
Edit update for anyone who cares: Gave her an Epsom salt bath, gave her bottom a little squeeze and the flood gates opened with the a distance with the stench a stench from Hell. She got a good blow dry and everything, including vent, covered in Blukote. Her abdomen is no longer stiff since it was full of waste! I hope I caught it in time. I suspect this was from the attack. She's been on electrolyte and probiotics since the attack, but she'll also be getting yogurt tomorrow. Send tweet thoughts Dottie's way, please!
