Vacuum cleaner (<~$300) for apartment with cat

I have an apartment with two types of floors (http://imgur.com/9H5Y3C1) as shown in this picture. I also have a medium hair cat that sheds (of course). What vacuum would be best in this price range? The vacuum purchasing guide hasn't been updated in a while, so I'm hoping to get some help.

Thanks
