I'll be voting for Jill Stein if Bernie doesn't get the nomination. I agree with the libertarians on some issues, but I strongly disagree with some of the party's stances on, for example, economic policy.

libertarian is pretty much the opposite of Bernie

Plus, the Libertarian party is pro-business and pro-oil and gas industry. Electing Libertarians would do nothing to solve the problem. For all their flaws, I suggest voting Green Party if Bernie doesn't get the nom or run third party.

Green party - Jill Stein maybe

Most of the 3rd party support if he loses will most likely go towards the Green party.

Gary is against Net Neutrality so no.

I used to be a card carrying lib. After getting out in the real world I couldn't really justify their economics. I did vote Johnson (who is better than Trump and Hillary combined) last time, but that was more based on trying to get them up to 5% and open up the system to new voices. I support Johnson's lawsuit (i think the greens are in on it too?) to get into the debates.

Economics is the key now and I just can't vote lib. Plus, I think the greens have a better shot at 5% this time.

I've heard all the complaints about people like me before, but honestly, if Sanders isn't on the ticket, I'm not going to bother voting at all.

Yes, I know lower level offices matter too, but I honestly don't have any faith left in my government. I don't know any of those people, I don't care what letter is next to their name.

I suppose I could vote for my local school's budget, but I honestly don't know if they need more money or not. Maybe they don't need 12 administrator positions at the high school. I honestly just don't know.

All I know is that Sanders is the only voice I've heard loud and clear telling big money to fuck off and telling the American people that the government ought to work for them. If voters don't want that, fuck em, I don't care what we get. If big money doesn't want that, guess what, they won a long time ago and if we can't beat them at this game, we never will.

I was a disenfranchised defeatist before Sanders began his campaign. For a few months I had an energized sense of hope for our country. I still think there is a path for him to win, and I'm still optimistic. But if he doesn't, fuck everybody, fuck everything, I don't care if you get Hillary or Trump. It's the same as it's always been. After Clinton finishes her 8 years, Jeb Bush will claim the throne for a term or two, then maybe Chelsea Clinton.

Libertarianism is a grotesque fantasy that fails to account for any number of real world circumstances. I'm a Socialist, so Libertarianism is quite far from my ideology. I'm opposed to the drug war and regulating social behavior, but that about covers our similarities. I can have those things in a different candidate that understands that economic justice is not deregulation and absent governments, but centralized health care and tight regulatory frameworks to rein in the gross excess of capitalistic greed.

Not to be a dick to you for asking a question. But, Libertarianism is extreme selfishness. The idea that an individual is greater than the collective is plain nonsense. If all people though this way, mankind would be extinct by now, we survive because we are a community and work for the collective good.

This is even more far right than capitalism when it comes to economy. I am sorry but you probably won't find any support here.

Thanks for not being dicks about it though. Seriously. I understand that our beliefs are different. Thanks for fielding my question.

I've thought about it, but I disagree with Gary on minimum wage, de-funding NASA by 43%, campaign finance reform (the only problem he has with $ in politics is it operating in the dark), and quite a few other things -- such as his support for private prisons.

I do agree with him on some things, but not enough. That said, it still is lingering in my mind as a second option.

1
Acpt7567California•

I'd go with Jill Stein then, she's in line with Bernie on all the issues you mentioned.

2
celticfife•

Yeah. In Hillary vs Trump race, she's my 1st choice. Then Gary.

1
TruthWinsInTheEnd•

No. My values simply don't align with the vast majority of the libertarian party platform. My fallback is definitely Jill Stein.
