My survival death just created one of the best fallout plots I've heard
So I've been doing my first survival run and things have been going pretty smoothly and I had just busted Nick Valentine out of Vault 114. I explained to him my longing need to find my son and how much emotional anguish and hardship I had faced trying to get to this point. We exit the manhole cover and I tell him that I will follow him back to Diamond City from there. We set out and are walking down some street in Downtown Boston when out of nowhere we are ambushed by raiders. I take down two, but the last one, the boss, gut shots me with his hunting rifle. Ending my game and throwing my back to a previous save.
However, I realized that the plot of that timeline could make for one of the best Fallout stories ever. Nick, having just briefly met this bereaved father (and his dog) who saved him from almost certain demise, decides to take the case despite the man's death. He searches his body (maybe finds a Winter halotape) and finds details of where the man came from and follows his dog back to sanctuary where he meets preston who explains the man's origins and goal to find his son. He enters Vault 111 where he finds the bullet-lodged body of Nora, and using his detective skills figures out Kellogg's MO. From here Nick embarks on a journey not only to find Shaun and avenge his rescuer, but also to uncover his own past and track down the institute. Tell me if I'm crazy but I think that sounds like an amazing movie/spinoff of the actual game.
TLDR: Died in survival just after rescuing Nick, imagined a plot line where he continues where I died to find Shaun and learn about his past.
