Whiskey Foxtrot - I'm Here To Chew Gum And Kick Ass And I'm All Out Of Ass But I Got Plenty of Gum

Guide

Battleborn Guides

Whiskey Foxtrot is the second Battleborn I've mastered and quickly fell in love with the better than Oscar Mike (yeah I said it) rogue assassin. I figured I'd share some insight on how I play him and hopefully give you a better understanding of what he can do.

Quick Rundown

Once again Whiskey, like Mellka, is classified as an easy assassin and once again like Mellka, he is not easy. He is a medium to long range assassin, specializing in three or four (if you take the helix) round bursts weapon damage.

Nitty Gritty

The first thing everyone will notice when you first play Whiskey Foxtrot is his lack of punch. He is very much a late blooming character. Similar to how I play Mellka, I focus on building turrets, elite bots and taking down our sides thralls. This allows him to start getting his levels going because levels is what he needs to really thrive, moreso than Mellka.

At about level three, where I suggest taking the scope, you can start actively engaging in fights from a medium to long range distance. Try to focus on the support players instead of the tanks or melee fighters unless they are low on health. Also focus on minions as much as possible while starting to gather shards for your gear.

Once you hit level 6, this is where Whiskey starts coming into his own. With the Napalm helix, you can now do much more reliable AOE damage and combined with the earlier helix of Triple Threat you can now start clearing waves of minions with prejudice as well as poke at enemy teams fairly well.

From then on, you become much more of a flanking long range assassin, using your scope and four round burst as well as Napalm to poke at enemies for massive damage. Make sure you're aiming for their heads for those sweet crits. Like Mellka, you may go off sometimes, but be ready to be an assist champ.

Final Thoughts

  • Until you get his mutations Killer Regen and Napalm, he doesn't really take off. Stick with him and it will be rewarding. I promise you.
  • Whiskey doesn't have an escape like other assassins unless you take Flak Off level one instead of Weighed Down. Even then, it's not the biggest push back. Remember to use your map and stay away from the enemy. Medium to long range engagements are your bread and butter.
  • You most likely will never lead in kills on your team unless the enemy team is staying too long in fights and dying from your Napalm or just let you smash their faces with bursts from your rifle. Embrace the assists.
  • Admittedly the scrap cannon is damn near a useless ability, however, try not to forget to use it before engaging in fights as it gives you bonus damage to your target or if you're using to keep enemies at bay with the knock back.
  • Whiskey has a fantastic Ultimate for flanking enemy Battleborn as well as destroying the oppositions Sentry. Combine this with three napalm stickies and watch the enemies Sentry melt like butter.
  • Whiskey has one of the strongest if not the strongest quick melee attacks in the game. If you run out ammo and your enemy has lower health right near you, start stabbing.
  • This Guide is mainly for Incursion, though I imagine it could also work for Meltdown, I don't play it. As for Capture, stick with the same build and concept. Building turrets and accelerators will greatly assist your team as well as level you quicker than just straight killing enemies. If you get the chance, go for the Varelsi to quickly level. Remember, Whiskey doesn't truly come online til level 6.

+Damage

+Critical Damage

+Reload Speed

-Recoil

Lore Legendary Item - This is one of the few character legendary items I actually use. It is perfect for Whiskey in every way. This combined with another recoil item and damage allows Whiskey to burst enemies with nearly no recoil when ADSing his scope. You'll be able to dish out a lot of critical hits with this bad boy.
