Halloween Masks (Old Polaroids)
All three went as Batman,
Knocked on the same doors.
They ran free and dangerous,
capes, leaves, and identities shuffled by the wind.
Fun connecting faces to other masks, as Batmen.
Candy piles, individually wrapped.
Why do you have more than me?
I took more.
Shoe-less walk of shame back to the dorm, Batman t-shirt.
The plastic Batman posed to perch atop the hedge stone,
left to bleach in the sun.
The last Polaroid, the same old Batman mask dug out for a birthday party;
her son pushes the chin up, mirroring the smile underneath.
