Switching from Tmobile to Metro PCS - timing?

I currently have tmobile (post paid) and I'm thinking about switching to metro pcs. Does it matter when in my billing cycle I make the switch? By which I mean am I only paying for the time that I'm on tmobile's service or am I paying for an entire month, regardless?
