Got some Molly, should I use marquis and mandelin or just marquis?

Got some Molly, used to getting it in a single rock (like a gram or two a whole rock no powder) and this time it's crushed with some few rocks, it's a new person too. I bought a marquis/mandelin package online and scraped up a little to test with and it went straight to black using the marquis. It's a gram spot on so I didn't want to have to use more to test unless it's a good idea to also use the mandelin. I understand a separation kit is wise but i cannot afford those.
