How do you guys manage patches on synths without patch storage?
I'm seeing a lot of synths without the ability to store patches, and I'm wondering how you guys deal with situations like:
- Performing live
- Recording multiple tracks with different patches, and then returning a to track with a previous patch
- Reproducing anything you've made before
I can see this being feasible with a very small synth (Erebus, Dark Energy), but with a modular or something like a Dwarf Star?
Edit: Not taking pictures of the synth. Pulling up a photo of each synth in between every track in a live performance and adjusting each knob won't cut it, unfortunately. It sounds like the consensus is that you either:
- Use roughly the same patch in every track with minor variations
- Don't use a synth without patch storage in a live situation unless the point is to improvise and experiment
- Create an electromechanical robot to turn your knobs and insert all of your patch cables to your liking
- DJ your recorded tracks and give up on the idea
